What will be achieved?

  • Improved employability of hospitality, leisure, sport and tourism students in 10 partner institutions
  • A range of tried and tested teaching, learning and assessment interventions/materials for embedding employability into the curricula of other higher education providers made widely available 
  • The development of an ongoing network within the wider subject community to share good practice, stimulate debate and disseminate innovative teaching, learning and assessment practices for enhancing student employability

How will it be achieved?

  • Graduate Employability Inventory (GEI) a listing of the skills and attributes required for successful employment.
  • Curriculum Audit Instrument (CAI) used to audit the curricula of the 10 partner institutions and, in partnership with the GEI, to inform the development of teaching, learning and assessment strategies for embedding employability.
  • 10 Employability Action Learning Case Studies initiated at partner sites focusing on curriculum change for enhancing students' skills for employment, offering a rich source of practical advice on embedding employability into curricula.
  • Good Practice Guide offering guidance on generic aspects of curriculum audit, employability strategy development and techniques for embedding employability in the curriculum.

Who will benefit?

  • Students will benefit from enhanced employability skills enabling them to successfully manage their long-term careers as well as the initial transition from higher education to work.
  •  Academics will benefit from access to a range of innovative teaching, learning and assessment materials allowing them to better prepare students to enter and succeed in a highly competitive marketplace, while also addressing national priorities for graduate employment.
  •  Employers will benefit from graduates entering the workforce with an increased awareness of business needs and the employability attributes which allow them to make highly effective and immediate contributions to their employing organisations.
