This project investigates how the employability skills of students can be enhanced via curriculum interventions. The project focuses initially on hospitality, leisure, sport and tourism (HLST), a key area of the economy, with findings being relevant to courses across all subject disciplines. This project is developing, implementing and evaluating a range of strategies designed to enhance the employability skills of students across a diverse range of Higher Education (HE) courses covered by the HLST subject area.
This research will bring the critical subject of graduate employability to the fore within HLST and other subject areas by devising strategies to embed employability within the curriculum. The resources generated will allow other HE providers to engage in low-risk, high gain activities that will improve student's skills for employment.
This project, running from October 2004 until August 2007, is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) under the fifth phase of the Fund for the Development of Teaching and Learning (FDTL5).
